We specialize in tailor-made, guided walking tours on the High Atlas of Morocco. We’re keen to share with you the beauty and magic of this UN-spoilt corners – those parts that most visitors never see - and we think the best way to do this is by walking…
It’s the perfect, all-year-round destination for anyone who enjoys walking. Imlil is a good starting point for a trekking the Atlas mountains with waterfalls, Mount Toubkal, Berber villages
We're all long-standing, full-time residents of the High Atlas - we know it well, and we know what makes it special. We also know how to combine our expertise with the best walks and the highest levels of personal service. The result is an exceptional holiday with an insight into the real High Atlas
We have something for everyone....
We have a range of walks to offer you depending on where you're staying, what sort of walk you'd like to do, how fit you are and how much energy you have.
We have put together a list of some of our favorite walks, which includes details, a brief description and photos. The list is not exhaustive, and most routes have a number of different variations. The exact route taken on any outing is at your guide's discretion.
We specialize in tailor-made walking tours for private groups, and we are experts in making your High Atlas experience exceptional! You tell us what kind of day out you'd like, what level of walkers you are, and we'll organize the rest.
We've listed some of our overnight treks to tantalize you but remember there are many more to choose from, depending on the area you'd like to explore and what sort of walking you'd like to do.
Your day can include other activities as well, such as a typical Berber lunch…. For ideas about other activities we can organize, take a look at our other activities…. But remember the list is not exhaustive.
High Atlas weather can change very quickly and unexpectedly, so it is always advisable to be ready for anything.
The terrain is rough so good footwear is essential. Most of our walks require walking boots with hard soles, good grip and ankle support. It is a good idea to wear your boots in well (if they are new!) before putting them to the test on some of our uncompromising, rocky surfaces.
September to early June are the main walking months on the island, and although not as hot as the summer, Sept/Oct and April/May can still be hot, and even in mid-winter sensitive skins can burn. Consequently, anything that you like to use to protect yourself from the sun – hat, cream, glasses, lip salve, long sleeves and long trousers….. is advisable.
Whatever the month it is essential to carry plenty of water, and a few snacks to top up your energy levels, are always advisable – just in case!
We occasionally schedule a hike that anyone - solos or couples - can sign up for and join us .... So if you would like to join a small group for a day or a couple of days’ walking, take a look at our calendar.
News, tips, outing : every Wednesday, the best of Imlil in your mailbox.
